Welcome! I am a registered psychotherapist with 18 years’ experience providing Integrative Psychotherapy from my practice in Hindhead on the Surrey/Hampshire border. I offer therapy in person, online over Zoom, or by telephone. I work with adults and young people aged 14+ and am passionate about achieving therapeutic outcomes that are positive and long-lasting. I also offer Couples Therapy.
My approach is warm and empathic and I offer a safe, confidential space in which difficult thoughts and feelings can be explored without judgement. Our work together will enable you to ‘tilt the lens’ and gain new perspectives on yourself, your relationships and the issues you are struggling with. I combine an analytical therapeutic approach with elements of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) in order to help you to manage emotional, psychological or behavioural symptoms, whilst also attending to the deeper issues that underpin them.
In addition to my private practice, I have also worked extensively for the NHS and the charity sector and am in the process of embarking on a research doctorate. The way I work is collaborative and respectful and, guided by your specific needs, I will use my knowledge and experience to help you:
- Identify and challenge self-defeating patterns of relationship, thought, feeling, or behaviour
- Develop an increased sense of self-acceptance and self-esteem
- Work through feelings of grief, guilt, shame, anger or fear
- Manage symptoms of anxiety or depression, whilst also addressing the underlying issues
- Understand how past experiences may be impacting present difficulties
- Recover from traumatic experiences and post-traumatic stress
- Explore the existential challenges of being human – from mortality and meaning, to personal choice and responsibility – to ensure you are living life authentically and to your full potential.
As an integrative psychotherapist I am able to consider the issues you bring to therapy from a range of clinical perspectives and will tailor our work together to meet your specific needs in the most effective way possible. I provide both short-term therapy (typically 6-12 weeks) and longer-term/open-ended therapy, as required. Therapy sessions last fifty minutes and usually take place at the same time each week. Where this is not possible I’m happy to arrange a more flexible schedule to fit around work or family commitments.
I firmly believe that psychological therapies should be as widely accessible as possible and offer concessions for people on low incomes, keyworkers, people receiving unemployment benefits, full-time students, trainee counsellors, and pensioners. Fees
As a first step I offer a free, introductory, 20-minute telephone call so that we can briefly discuss the issues you are struggling with and you can ask any questions you may have – it’s a good way to find out whether I’m the type of therapist you are looking for.
To book an appointment or a free introductory telephone call, please text/call 07790 366314 or email helenbrucetherapy@gmail.com
